Rodgers plotting January raid on Arsenal and Chelsea

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to bid for English duo Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge in January as he looks to add more attacking options to his bare Reds squad, according to the Mirror.

Rodgers has pulled no punches when revealing he is short of striking options after allowing Andy Carroll to leave for West Ham and failing with a deadline day move for Clint Dempsey.

However, with money in the bank it appears that January will once again be a busy time at Anfield with expected bids for Arsenal’s wantaway winger Walcott and out of favour Chelsea striker Sturridge imminent.

It is clear from his short time in Merseyside that Rodgers is keen on bringing through young, British talent with the likes of Martin Kelly, Jonjo Shelvey and Raheem Sterling all becoming first team regulars this season.

Deals for Walcott and Sturridge would certainly fit into the new managers’ philosophy and will give Liverpool and much needed boost in attacking options.
