Roma is said to have accepted a £30million offer from Manchester City in regards to the signing of Mehdi Benatia, but will only confirm the move if they find a suitable replacement, Mirror reports.
Manuel Pellegrini highly values the 27-year-old Moroccan centre-back and is now a step closer to accquiring his top defensive target after a fine Serie A performance the previous season.
However, with the Italian side having to also compete in the upcoming Champions League campaign, the club will need all the players they can to keep things fresh, hence their reason to only sell Benatia if the right candidate joins in his place.
Rudi Garcia is considering a swoop for Colombia international Eder Alvarez Balanta who is currently seen as one of the most promising defenders in the world at the moment.
Due to the Colombian’s high reputation and potential, there are a host of European giants, such as Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid, as well as City, all chasing to add the 21-year-old to their ranks.
