AS Roma have made an approach to sign Manchester United star Robin van Persie this summer, according to reports from talkSPORT.
Van Persie has been heavily linked with an exit in recent weeks following a season in which the striker has struggled for form and fitness.
And with only one year remaining on his current contract, United are keen to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free in a year’s time.
Several clubs have been alerted by his availability, with Juventus previously interested in the Holland international.
However, the Serie A champions decided to sign Mario Mandzukic instead, leaving the door open for Roma to try and secure a deal.
The Red Devils are also looking to sign another attacker to add to Memphis Depay’s £25million arrival from PSV Eindhoven, which will push Van Persie even further down the pecking order.
The 31-year-old wants to play regular football in order to be picked for Euro 2016, and will fancy his chances to start games at the Stadio Olimpico.
The former Arsenal hitman played 31 games in all competitions last season, scoring 12 goals.
