AS Roma are currently in talks to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny on a one-year loan deal, according to reports from talkSPORT.
Szczesny has been heavily linked with an exit ever since falling down the pecking order to David Ospina last season, and the summer signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea has not helped his cause.
With Cech guaranteed to be the club’s starting shot-stopper, one of either Ospina or Szczesny is set to depart before the start of the campaign.
Ospina was expected to make way for the former Blues goalkeeper, but now with interest for Szczesny coming from Roma, it is the Poland international that might be sacrificed instead.
The Serie A club are looking for a goalkeeper to challenge Morgan de Sanctis as the club number one, and with the former Napoli ace already 38 years old, Szczesny has the opportunity to overtake the Italian in the pecking order.
The 25-year-old made 17 Premier League appearances last season, keeping three clean sheets.
