A source close to Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that the player would never join Manchester City as long as Sir Alex Ferguson was still in the game, The Sun report.
The Portugal international has recently admitted that he is unhappy at Real Madrid and did not celebrate either of his two goals against Granada at the weekend.
With the talented attacker thought to be willing to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, both Manchester United and Manchester City have been linked with a move for the mercurial Iberian forward.
However, the daily tabloid has stated that a source close to Ronaldo has spoken of the player’s respect for Ferguson after the Scot brought him to Old Trafford.
“Cristiano has always been close to Alex Ferguson and even now they still talk. Cristiano simply would not risk hurting him by joining Ferguson’s immediate rivals,” the source revealed.
Ronaldo has stated that his gripe is not money-motivated and as yet there has been no progression one way or the other over the player’s future.
