Manchester United have made a statement in pre-season, beating a strong Barcelona team 3-1 in the United States, as per The Guardian.
The Red Devils were in the ascendancy throughout, with goals from talisman Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj rounding off an impressive victory for Louis van Gaal’s side.
Rafinha Alcantara pulled one back for the Catalan powerhouses in the last minute, but it was too little too late for Luis Enrique’s charges.
United will be pleased to beat Barcelona, especially given that the Camp Nou side have ended the English club’s dreams of becoming Europe’s top dogs in two Champions League finals in recent times.
Although Barcelona were without Lionel Messi, the likes of Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Pedro all played for the Spaniards.
Van Gaal was pleased with his side’s performance and will hope that his team can start the new 2015-16 campaign strongly in the quest for silverware.
