Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has stated that the Old Trafford club should try to sign Paul Pogba this summer.
The France international was on the Premier League club’s books for a number of seasons, but after failing to break into the side’s first team opted to leave to join Juventus.
Pogba has been a shining light in the Turin giants’ run of domestic dominance in recent years and is adjudged as one of the world’s most promising young players.
With Real Madrid and Barcelona also said to be keeping tabs on the box-to-box maestro, Keane has urged United to try to bring Pogba back to the club.
“I think that United should sign Paul Pogba for they need a presence and physical player in midfield,” Keane is quoted as saying by The Daily Express.
“Pogba knows the league, is big and strong and is playing brilliantly for Juventus. People say United can’t get Pogba but they should try.”
United have been lacking a dominant midfielder since Keane left the club and it is believed that Louis van Gaal will prioritise a new signing in the centre of the park this summer.
Although Kevin Strootman has been linked as a real contender to fill the role, the Dutch star has had serious knee injuries of late and as such United are likely to turn their attentions elsewhere.
