Ruiz confident that he will improve

Fulham forward Bryan Ruiz has stated that he has the ability to prosper in the Premier League, despite a slow start to his time in England.

The Costa Rica international signed for the Cottagers from Dutch club Twente in a £10.6 million deal in the summer, but has taken a while to adjust to his new environment.

Ruiz missed the crucial penalty kick that sent Martin Jol’s side out of the Carling Cup against Chelsea in midweek, and spurned a great opportunity against West Brom at the weekend, after coming off the bench.

Despite this, Ruiz has the confidence that he is good enough to play at this level.

“Everyone who knows me, knows that I want to play. I’m working hard in training to get my rhythm and hopefully I’ll play some more in the next match,” he told Mirror Football.

“I’m just going to do my best and show my quality. I hope people will see me at my best very soon. I need to play. For sure I need to play.

“I feel good. I’m fit. I know I can play 90 minutes in the Premier League. I played for 120 minutes against Chelsea and that has helped me. If I play more matches, I will get more confidence from that.

“The manager has said to me that he knows it will take some time for me to adapt but I’m here to play,” he concluded.

Fulham are the only side in the division not to record a victory this season, and take on OB Odense in the Europa League on Thursday, before hosting London rivals QPR on Sunday.
