Russians threaten to scupper Tottenham’s move

Lokomotiv Moscow have entered the race to sign forward Emmanuel Adebayor, which could ruin Tottenham’s plans to bring him to White Hart Lane permanently, The Telegraph report.

The Togolese forward spent last season on loan with Spurs, and Andre Villas-Boas is eager to make the African forward’s move to north London permanent after he became a crowd favourite in 2011-12.

With Manchester City eager to sell Adebayor but looking for the highest amount of remuneration possible, Tottenham’s attempts to sign the player have been halted by the Etihad Stadium side’s request for a large fee.

However, Lokomotiv are thought to have made a £8 million move for Adebayor, which trumps Spurs’ offer of £5 million.

The forward has expressed his desire to move to Tottenham permanently, but the financial side of the deal threatens to spoil a deal.
