Senegal midfielder Salif Diao has re-signed for Stoke City after agreeing a two-year contract.
The 33-year-old left the Britannia Stadium when his previous contract expired at the end of last season.
Diao turned down fresh terms from the Potters but, following a brief spell in the free agent market, is back on the books of the Britannia Stadium outfit.
"It's fantastic to see Salif back because he is not only an experienced head, he is also a good person to have around the place," manager Tony Pulis told the club's official website.
"We made it perfectly clear that there would always be a welcome for him back here and we are delighted he has signed now.
"He has an important role to play in the future of the club – both as player and in an ambassadorial role – but we appreciate that he wants to make the most of trying to enjoy more success on the pitch first and foremost."
Diao has made 82 appearances for the Potters after arriving from Liverpool in October 2006.
