Sandro feels victory will provide a big statement

Tottenham midfielder Sandro has stated that if his side beat Chelsea on Thursday they must be considered as serious title contenders and has admitted that he is fighting fit again after injury.

Spurs go into the game against the Stamford Bridge team two points ahead of them in the table, as the battle for a top four finish continues.

The Brazil international feels that beating Chelsea would lay down a marker for the rest of the division.

“It can give us the belief that we can win the title,” he told The Guardian.

“If we win this game, the only way will be up for us. We can make a big statement, although it will be a very difficult game.

“But we are playing at home and that is very good because the support is very good and that helps us.

“Yes, we can win the title. Why not? Every single player in the squad is good, we are a strong team and our bench is strong as well,” he stated.

Sandro picked up a knee injury in the Copa America in the summer, but after undergoing surgery is fit and back able to play once more.

“It has been very frustrating but the injuries are in the past now.

“I’ve worked so hard to be back in this position of being able to play again. My injuries are completely over now and I think I can establish myself in the team,” he concluded.
