Blackpool are set to make Israel defender Dekel Keinan their first signing of the summer.
The Premier League new-boys have taken their time in strengthening their squad following victory in May's Championship play-off final.
But Keinan of Maccabi Haifa is now set to join the Seasiders on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old centre-half was recently be released despite winning 15 international caps.
"We've spoken to Dekel and his representatives and we're hopeful that we can finish the deal off, subject to a work permit," chairman Karl Oyston told the Blackpool Gazette.
Speaking earlier in the week, manager Ian Holloway pledged to take his time in order to make the right signings.
"Although I need players, I won't be launching myself into the transfer market and making crazy signings of overpaid and overrated players," he said.
"Everyone else has fallen into that trap but I'm not going to.
"I am going to take my time, work with my chairman and try to get some real good people in to help my lads, who were so fantastic last season."
