Fiorentina are close to signing Liverpool ace Fabio Borini after the two clubs held talks over a transfer, according to reports from ESPN.
Borini has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield after finding it difficult to break into the first team, with the likes of Lazio also previously keen on the Italian.
However, it is Fiorentina that are leading the chase for his signature, with Viola representatives in England when the club faced Chelsea in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old joined the Reds as one of Brendan Rodgers’ first signings, but the former Roma man failed to make a mark with the likes of Luis Suarez previously ahead of him in the pecking order.
This saw Borini loaned out to Sunderland during the 2013-2014 campaign, where he thrived scoring 10 goals for the Wearside club.
However, he spent the whole of last season on the bench with Liverpool, making just 12 appearances and scoring one goal.
Borini is set to be the second striker to leave Liverpool within a week, with Rickie Lambert recently completing a switch to West Bromwich Albion.
