Manchester United star Rafael has arrived in France to complete his medical ahead of a transfer to Lyon, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Rafael has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford all summer, with the defender struggling with form and fitness over the course of the previous campaign.
After manager Louis van Gaal signed Matteo Darmian from Torino and ensured Antonio Valencia is his first-choice right-back, Rafael fell even further down the pecking order, forcing him to look towards an exit.
And it was Lyon that swooped in to sign the Brazil international, although the Red Devils and the French club are yet to agree on an appropriate transfer fee.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed Rafael’s arrival via social media platform Twitter for his medical today, in which he also commented on the 25-year-old’s buoyant mood.
He tweeted: “Raphael has arrived from Manchester U. We’re waiting for an agreement with MU on the transfer. He’s in a very Brazilian good mood.”
Rafael was signed by Manchester United in the summer of 2008, going on to make 109 league appearances for the 13-time Premier League champions.
