Juventus have revealed that they are unlikely to make a move for Manchester United star Ander Herrera following remarks made by director Beppe Marotta, Express reports.
The 26-year-old was recently linked with a switch to the Serie A after it was believed that he was unhappy with his role under manager Louis van Gaal.
Juve manager Maximilliano Allegri is said to have been keeping an eye on his situation, but Marotta has now come out to play down speculation of a mega money move for the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder.
“We are evaluating the development of the market, but I doubt there will be any big buys in January for the Serie A clubs,” he said.
“We will not buy players just for the sake of it, as we already have a very competitive squad.”
United recently told any interested parties that they must pay around the £40milllion region if they want to begin negotiations for the Spaniard.
The Serie A champions were even said to be considering a loan deal for Herrera with an option to make the move permanent in the summer, but the idea is looking rather unlikely.
He has featured in 13 Premier League matches out of a possible 20 so far this season, scoring two goals while providing another two assists.
