AC Milan are being tipped to win the race for Arsenal and Liverpool target Luiz Adriano by Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu, according to reports from the Express.
The 28-year-old was one of the names the Premier League pair were considering in their search to reinforce their front line.
However, Lucescu has revealed that the Italian outfits are currently favourites to acquire the signature of the Brazil international.
“The Rossoneri are in pole position at the moment, there’s nothing with Roma,” he said.
“In January nothing happened either, we could find a deal with Roma, who wanted to take him on loan, and we had Champions League commitments so couldn’t afford to let him go.”
Adriano is currently Shakhtar’s record goalscorer, but has already expressed his decision to not extend his deal at the club.
He will see his contract expire in December of this year with his club now likely to push for his departure before they are force to let him leave for free during the January window.
The striker has once again been on good form this past season, scoring a total of 21 goals and providing a further 13 assist from 33 appearances in all competitions.
