Tottenham Hotspur could part ways with Erik Lamela after the injury struck midfielder failed to impress this past season, as Inter Milan prepare to lure him back to Italy, Daily Star reports.
Lamela could join up with Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic at Inter after club president Erik Thohir recently stated that manager Walter Mazzarri highly admires the Argentine attacking player.
In addition to the former Roma man, Mazzarri also declared his interest in bringing over Wolfsburg’s defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo.
Thohir said: “Mazzarri likes Lamela and Luiz Gustavo, but everything will depend on the situation of the market.
“In about two weeks we hope to be able announce a new player.
“Mazzarri believes in our plan and we must sit around a table to talk about his renewal.
“I want the coach to work mostly with young players, the [average] age of players must be around 26 and a half years old. Football now is different to 15 years ago.”
