Roma have opened talks with Chelsea in their chase of a transfer for Branislav Ivanovic, according to reports from Corriere Dello Sport.
Ivanovic was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge earlier this season, with the Serbia international struggling to replicate the form the saw him part of the PFA Team of the Year in 2014.
His poor displays even saw him dropped by previous manager Jose Mourinho, but he is once again an integral part of the squad under interim boss Guus Hiddink.
However, with the Blues well behind on the table and almost guaranteed no European football next term, Ivanovic is considering an exit despite only signing a one-year extension during the January transfer window.
It seems as if the 32-year-old is looking for a new challenge after year of incredible success, and with Roma keen on an experienced and versatile defender, the Serie A giants held talks last Friday over a potential summer switch.
Ivanovic has made 38 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring two goals.
