Sheffield Wednesday & Bolton eyeing Liverpool summer trialist

Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton Wanderers are two of a host of teams chasing Torquay United goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe, according to reports from the Torquay Herald Express.

It’s claimed that the 18-year-old will train with the Trotters during the international break, while the Owls are watching the situation closely.

The teenager is a product of the Gulls’ now defunct academy set-up and has already spent a trial period with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.

Lavercombe will return to Plainmoor after spending a short period with Bolton and could feature against Lincoln City.

The youngster made his Torquay debut last season and featured regularly in the closing stages of the campaign.

He has, however, dipped out of the XI this term, with summer arrival Fabian Spiess preferred.

That said he did play during Torquay’s 7-3 home loss to Bromley, albeit few laid blame at his feet for the result.
