Liverpool are set to sign highly-rated teenager Jonjo Shelvey from Charlton Athletic.
Shelvey, 18, is poised to undergo a medical on Merseyside after the Reds agreed a fee in the region of £1.7million with the League One club.
The England youth international made his first-team debut aged a club record 16 and has played 48 times for the Addicks.
Speaking after handing the youngster a two-year contract in 2009, Charlton manager Phil Parkinson declared: "He's an excellent prospect. I haven't seen a better 17-year-old in the country."
Meanwhile, Charlton have also revealed that talks with the Premier League club over a "strategic partnership" involving the development of players are ongoing.
