Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton has revealed his latest Championship predictions for the upcoming weekend’s fixtures, but he doesn't believe that Aston Villa have enough to see off arch-rivals Birmingham City at St Andrew's in a huge Midlands derby on Sunday and is predicting a share of the spoils.

Villa made a disappointing start to the campaign but after winning four of their last five league games – including last weekend's 2-1 win against Fulham at Villa Park – they have leapt up to fifth position in the standings.

Goals from John Terry and Albert Adomah were enough to see Steve Bruce's side secure the three points, and it was a welcome reaction following the 2-0 defeat to fellow high-flyers Wolverhampton Wanderers previously.

While Birmingham are struggling on paper – they are 21st in the table and have lost eight of their 13 Championship fixtures this term – Steve Cotterill will be taking charge of just his third game having replaced Harry Redknapp at the helm last month.

The Blues beat Cardiff City 1-0 in his first match but the Midlands outfit were brought back down to Earth last time out when they lost 2-0 against Millwall at The Den.

They two teams may be at opposite ends of the table but Prutton doesn't believe that will be an important factor on Sunday.

The 36-year-old told Sky Sports: "The Second City derby returns and it should be a fabulous occasion as St Andrew's.

"Steve Cotterill was riding high after winning his first game in charge against Cardiff, but Birmingham came down with a bit of a bump at Millwall last week and he'll want a reaction here.

"Aston Villa, meanwhile, are in the play-offs and they'll want to continue to close in on the top two, but I feel like this will be a draw, albeit an entertaining one."

Villa will know that they can move up to fourth in the table if they beat Birmingham and Leeds United fail to defeat Sheffield United at Elland Road on Friday night.
