Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has stated that he believes Chelsea will still finish in the top four this season, despite their slow start to the campaign.
The reigning Premier League champions have been unrecognisable at times in 2015-16, with Jose Mourinho’s men already losing seven games and 14 points off top spot.
The West London club’s fortunes have seemingly started to improve in recent times, with the Blues putting up a stringent defensive performance to draw 0-0 with an on-form Tottenham side last weekend.
Despite Chelsea being some way off the pace currently, Redknapp has stated that he still believes the London side will qualify for next season’s Champions League.
“I still expect Chelsea to finish in the top four,” the former Spurs and Liverpool midfielder said.
“I’ve got no doubts at all about that. They are more than capable of going on a run and winning five, six games on the bounce.
“Their squad has got plenty of quality in it – and a couple of additions in January would boost them further.”
Chelsea host newly promoted Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge this weekend, with the hosts hoping for three points to aid their ascent up the division.
The Blues are also odds-on to qualify from their Champions League group, despite not being at their best in Europe either.
