West Bromwich Albion’s first-team coach Michael Appleton singled out midfielder Somen Tchoyi for praise after the Baggies beat Manchester City 2-1 in the Carling Cup third round.
The 27-year-old Cameroon international marked his full Baggies debut with a strong performance at The Hawthorns, as the home side won out thanks to goals from Gianni Zuiverloon and Simon Cox.
Appleton told the club’s official website:“He was outstanding at times. You’ve got to give him a free rein at times and that license to go and roam and be free.
“I think if we can just manage him out of possession and get him in the right areas, he could be a great acquisition for the club.
“He can do things with the ball, drag two or three people in and go past them. He’s a really good option for us.
“Whether he starts or comes off the bench for us, he’s a livewire.”
