Southampton have reached an agreement with Werder Bremen to sign Eljero Elia on loan with the possiblity of making the move permanent at the end of the current season, Daily Mail reports.
The 27-year-old will complete his move to join Ronald Koeman on January 3rd with the club’s official website confirming that a deal has been struck.
Koeman is keen to add another left forward into his squad after he is set to lose new signing Sadio Mane to the upcoming African Nations Cup and is still without injured star Jay Rodriguez.
The Saints boss said: “If he signs for Southampton, I think he will be a good option.
“We need at least one more player up front because we lose Sadio Mane in January for the Africa Cup. We need another player for that position and he is a good option.
“If he does sign for us, it will first be as a loan deal.
“He was a Dutch international, he had not such a good period in Germany but I believe in the qualities of the player,”
