Southampton and Stoke to battle for Dutch starlet

Southampton and Stoke City are both interested in signing Luc Castaignos this summer, amongst a host of Championship clubs.

HITC Sport believe the Premier League duo are ready to battle Newcastle United and Norwich City for the Dutchman, after a frustrating season in the Bundesliga. Castaignos only scored 4 goals from 19 league appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 23-year-old has been an impressive star in the Eredivisie before now, scoring double figures in his last 4 seasons of the Dutch top flight, for both Twente and Feyenoord respectively. Before joining Twente, Castaignos moved from Feyenoord to Inter Milan, where he struggled to make an impact, scoring just once from 6 matches.

It was a season of struggles last year for the Dutchman, who has featured heavily for the Netherlands’ youth teams, but is yet to get a senior cap.

Stoke have been heavily linked with a move for Saido Berahino this summer but are yet to bring in a centre forward, whilst the Saints lost goal scoring threats Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle.
