Southampton boss doesn’t want January additions

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he won’t be making any additions to his squad in the January transfer window, as reported by Sporting Life.

The Argentinean also doesn’t want to sell any first team players with Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw being linked with moved away from St Mary’s in the new year.

Southampton have impressed this season and are in the hunt for a European spot going into the second half of the season.

The Saints spent big in the summer on the likes of Victor Wanyama and  Dani Osvaldo and so are set to finish the season with their current squad according to boss Pochettino.

“We are not really concerned with the January transfer window, we are really happy with the young players who are part of this team,” Pochettino said.

“Our younger players are getting a feel for what it means to be in this side, it gives us important balance, and we’re really happy with their contribution.

“Rumours do exist: apparently this season we have rumours from the president to the kit man.

“We don’t know where these come from.

“So we need to be fully focused on our work and fully aware that it’s full of rumours.”
