The 51-year-old Dutch boss has been an instant hit after taking over from current Tottenham Hotspur gaffer Mauricio Pochettino at St Mary’s Stadium.
Despite the Saints being tipped to struggle after losing a number of stars in the summer, Koeman has now led his side to third place in the Premier League as they continue to fight for a Champions League spot.
With a very impressive managerial record so far, Barcelona are considering their former player to come back and take charge of the La Liga club.
He featured in the Barca squad from 1989 up until 1995 and has admitted that he knows of the interest from his former side, but there’s nothing he can do about it.
“I have been linked with Barcelona in the past and I will be in the future but I can’t do anything about that,” he said.
“I have to respect my contract I like to respect my contract and I am very happy in my job.”
Koeman was appointed at the start of the current campaign after signing a three-year contract with the club, and is now working alongside his brother and assistant manager, Erwin Koeman.
