Southampton boss Ronald Koeman expressed his unhappiness at his own fans on their treatment of former manager Mauricio Pochettino when his team visited Tottenham Hotspur in their recent 1-0 loss, Daily Star reports.
When the Saints manager was asked to give his opinion on the negative opinions from his own fans, he replied: “That’s the reaction of the fans.
“I don’t agree. Everybody deserves respect. Normally respect is high in the Premier League.
“I respect Mauricio very much and he did a great job at Southampton and now he’s the manager of Tottenham.”
Pochettino also insisted that he made the right choice to move to White Hart Lane, but also added that he still values his former side despite the jeering from the fans.
“I still love Southampton. But I can understand.
“This is football. It doesn’t change my feeling. Always I will be grateful to the club and the people of Southampton.
“How Tottenham played in the last couple of years is different to our ideas. We know we need time to put a different philosophy into practice.
“I have no regrets about my decision. My decision is done. I am happy to be here and happy with the win.”
