Southampton are set to hand Manchester United target Sadio Mane a new contract in their efforts to retain his services, Express reports.
The 23-year-old emerged as an attacking target for manager Louis van Gaal ever since the summer, with the club looking to sign him for about £20million.
Apart from United, Chelsea are also said to be considering a move to acquire his services given that they have struggled to find goals this season.
Mane is expected to replace Blues striker Radamel Falcao, who is currently on loan from Monaco, but has been unable to find any sort of form in front of goal.
Van Gaal recently revealed his intentions to sign a new winger to reinforce his flanks and has made the Senegal international one of his top targets.
However, the Saints are now expected to hand him a new deal in order to ward away interest despite the winger only penning a four-year deal upon his arrival last summer.
