Southampton star signals Champions League intent amidst Arsenal interest

Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin has expressed his desire to play in the Champions League, and Arsenal are ready to pounce to supply his demands, Express reports.

The midfielder has performed superbly for Southampton this season, helping the Saints to a very respectable 8th place finish in the Premier League.

Schneiderlin was also named in Didier Deschamp’s France standby World Cup squad, and Arsene Wenger believes the 24-year-old would be a perfect fit in his Gunner’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

The Frenchman admits that for the progression of his career, it would be difficult to turn down an offer from a top European club.

“For my progress and my visibility, it would be better to play for a club who play in the Champions League,” he said.

“I know there is a lot of speculation, but I still have three years on my contract, it does not depend on me. We’ll see in the coming weeks.”

Southampton’s good season has seen a few of their stars targeted by the league’s bigger clubs, with Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana set for moves to Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.
