Southampton star Victor Wanyama is set to snub a new contract offer from his club after he was denied a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The 24-year-old midfielder was trying to force a move to White Hart Lane before the transfer window came to a close, but manager Ronald Koeman eventually blocked the switch.
It is now believed that Tottenham will make another attempt at signing him during the January window despite speculation that the Saints were ready to tie him down with a new deal.
The Kenya international still has two years left on his current contract at St Mary’s Stadium, meaning the club will not yet have to worry about losing him for free.
Saints executive director Les Reed recently revealed that talks to keep Wanyama at the club until 2020 have already begun.
Spurs are said to have already tabled a number of offers, with a deadline day deal worth £18million plus Erik Lamela on loan, but was rejected in their efforts.
