Pepe Reina has given Liverpool a welcome tonic by announcing that he wishes to remain at Anfield for a long time to come.
The Spanish keeper has been in sensational form in what has been an indifferent season so far for the Reds and is keen to extend his stay in Liverpool beyond his current deal which expires in 2012.
Reina believes he is at the right club to realise all his ambitions and also feels that despite a wretched run of results that Rafa Benitez is the right man to lead the football club forward and bring the title to Anfield
“My aim is to get a new contract in the future; I want to be here for many years.
“Rafa is building something special and titles are what we are all here for. As a Liverpool player you have to have these ambitions.
“Trophies are the most important thing and the most important one is probably the Premier League.
“The title race is not even close to being over, we have to go game by game.
“Now we must focus on Lyon, which is massive, and after that Birmingham is a must-win game next Monday in the league.” (BBC)
