Liverpool are in danger of missing out on Paris St Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, with La Liga giants Valencia registering an interest in the player, according to the Express.
Lavezzi has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield for a cut price £8million, with PSG eager to get the 30-year-old off the books.
But reports in Spain suggest Valencia are already locked in negotiations with the French champions, having freed up some funds by selling Carles Gil to Aston Villa.
And that may well have caught Liverpool unawares, with manager Brendan Rodges reportedly happy to bide his time over a deal.
Rodgers is keen to add some more firepower to his squad before the close of the January transfer window, having seen Liverpool’s strikers struggle to score goals in the absence of Daniel Sturridge.
Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert were both on target as the Reds recorded a 2-0 win away at Aston Villa, whilst Daniel Sturridge is expected to return after four months out through injury by the end of the month.
Liverpool have also been in talks with Lille about the prospect of bringing Divock Origi to Anfield five months earlier than agreed, whilst Brendan Rodgers also revealed on Thursday that Mario Balotelli would not be sold.
