Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has stated that Arsenal should try to lure Pep Guardiola to North London as a replacement for Arsene Wenger.
The experienced Frenchman is the Premier League’s longest-serving manager but is widely expected to retire from the sport in the next couple of years.
Wenger has led the Emirates Stadium outfit to a number of successful periods over the years but has not landed the Premier League title in over ten years.
With a section of the club’s fans calling for Wenger to step down, talk of who could replace him in North London has been doing the rounds.
Balague said that the current Bayern Munich manager would be an ideal choice for the Premier League club.
“I have a better plan, why not Pep Guardiola,” Balague told Sky Sports when asked if Carlo Ancelotti could replace Wenger.
“Top directors at Man City are quite positive about the possibility of Guardiola becoming the next City manager, but if I was at Arsenal I would try to convince him to come to London before he signs any contract with City.”
Guardiola’s tenure at the Allianz Arena could well come to an end at the culmination of this season, with his contract ticking down.
The former Spain international led Barcelona to 14 trophies over the period of four years in charge at Camp Nou.
