Spanish giants join Chelsea and Man United in race for £56m striker

Chelsea and Manchester United have been alerted after Atletico Madrid are set to join the summer race for Everton star Romelu Lukaku, Fichajes reports.

The 22-year-old has been on sensational form this season as the two Premier League giants begin to monitor his situation ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Atletico are now keen to replace Jackson Martinez, who left to join Chinese Super League outfits Guangzhou Evergrande last month.

However, Toffees boss Roberto Martinez will surely convince the Belgium international to remain at Goodison Park, but the club could be swayed with a big money offer.

The Blues want to resign their former striker for £56million despite the fact that he left Stamford Bridge back in 2014 for around the £28million region.

With United struggling with injuries in attack, they are ready to make a move for the player after being linked with his services during the previous summer window.

He has already featured 36 times in all competitions for his side this term, so far managing to score 25 goals while providing another six assists.
