Spurs and Leicester City set for £23m transfer feud over Algerian assassin

According to reports from A Bola, Tottenham Hotspur have joined Leicester City in the race to sign Islam Slimani during the summer transfer window.

The Algerian international has just come to the end of a formidable campaign at Sporting Lisbon with 31 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions.

Leicester City are known to be targeting the 6 foot 1 striker, with A Bola recently speculating a £23million bid for the summer transfer window.

But the Portuguese publication’s latest reports suggest the Premier League champions are no longer alone in their pursuit of the 27-year-old front-man.

They claim Tottenham Hotspur are also chasing the 42-cap international, presumably as back up to first-choice striker Harry Kane.

The England star finished up as the Premier League’s top scorer for 2015/16 with 25 goals but ended up starting every league fixture for the north London club – a huge burden on a 22-year-old.

Slimani’s contract is known to include a £23million release clause.
