Tottenham are weighing up a move for CSKA Moscow star Alan Dzagoev, according to The Daily Mail.
The Russia international shone for his nation in Euro 2012, scoring three goals, and has been linked with a move to one of Europe’s top leagues on a number of occasions this summer.
With Spurs confirming the sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid, Andre Villas-Boas is eager to bring in some creativity in his midfield before the transfer window shuts at the end of the week.
It is believed that the north London club are closing in on a deal for Fulham’s Moussa Dembele, but Dzagoev could also be a target.
CSKA are reluctant to sell their star man, and will not drop their £25 million valuation of the playmaker, which may well deter Spurs from making a move.
Villas-Boas is also still hot on the trail of Joao Moutinho, who he managed at Porto, but the Portuguese side have stated that the central midfielder is not for sale.
