Tottenham have made a slightly audacious enquiry over the availability of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, with the player not interested in a move according to The Daily Mail.

The Argentina international striker has been largely on the fringes at the Santiago Bernabeu of late, with Jose Mourinho preferring to start Karim Benzema as the side's lone striker when everyone is available.

The South American marksman has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Juventus the main clubs stating an interest.

Tottenham meanwhile are looking for a new centre forward after Emmanuel Adebayor's loan spell at White Hart Lane has ended and Louis Saha was released.

The report suggest that intermediaries acting on behalf of he club have contacted Higuain to sound out potential interest in a switch to north London, but the attacker has decided to stay and fight for his place with the Primera Division winners.

Tottenham scouts have also been monitored Spartak Zlatibor Voda goalkeeper Branimir Aleksic, and watched him play for Serbia during Tuesday's friendly against Sweden.
