Tottenham Hotspur are struggling to tie key playmaker Christian Eriksen down to a new contract, with The Telegraph stating that the Denmark international has asked for astronomical wages of £150,000 per week to extend his stay in North London.
The White Hart Lane outfit are trying to convince the attacking midfielder to commit to the club, with two years remaining on the free-kick maestro’s current deal.
However, Eriksen has thrown a spanner in the works by requesting weekly pay that will break Tottenham’s wage structure.
Hugo Lloris is the club’s current highest earner but the Scandinavian is asking for wages that are almost double what the France international goalkeeper receives.
Eriksen earns £32,000 per week at the moment and is seemingly set for a hike in earnings whether he stays at Spurs are looks for a move elsewhere.
Tottenham will be keen to keep the former Ajax star at the club but may consider selling him if a new contract cannot be agreed.
