Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has praised the form of youngster Ayoze Perez, but insists he is not ready for the Premier League just yet.
Perez, 20, arrived at the club in the summer from Spanish Segunda Tenerife side where he scored 16 goals.
The Spanish striker fired the Toon to victory over Liverpool when he smashed home a lose ball to earn Pardew’s side all three points.
But the former West Ham and Southampton manager insists the youngster is still not ready for England’s top division.
Pardew said: “His game is not ready for the Premier League, in terms of holding it up, and maybe he could keep possession a little bit better at times.
But he’s just got a goal in him and with the way the game was unfolding I knew we would get a chance.”
“Perez had such a week that I just felt if anything falls for him he’s going to put it away I just knew it.”
