Stoke City keen on £12million midfielder

Stoke City are lining up a £12million move for midfielder Mario Lemina, reports the Guardian.

Potters boss Mark Hughes is keen to beef up his midfield, as he continues to take the club away from the “unattractive football” stereotype they had been associated with.

Despite extending Glenn Whelan’s contract for another year this summer, Hughes has set his sights on the Gabon midfielder, who scored 2 Serie A goals from his 10 appearances for Juventus last season. He also featured for Marseille on loan, failing to net in four league fixtures.

Leicester City were also rumoured to be interested in the 22-year-old, with the Guardian suggesting they offered £7.5million for the midfielder. And with Watford keen too, Stoke will have to act swiftly if they are to add to their squad.

Juventus have made a big money move this summer, bringing Miralem Pjanic to the Serie A champions, meaning Lemina’s game time could be severely limited with The Old Lady.
