Stuttgart star linked with White Hart Lane switch

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is set to move for Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci, claims The Sun.

The 24-year old is under contract at the club until 2014 but could be on his way to the Premier League as Redknapp looks to strengthen his defence. Spurs have released Jonathan Woodgate and with club captain Ledley King unable to train due to his knee injury, the Germany international could be a welcome addition at White Hart Lane.

Tasci has made 168 appearances for Stuttgart and would cost around £12 million. Spurs reportedly moved for the player last summer but were unable to agree a fee. Juventus and Lazio are also keen whilst North London rivals Arsenal were linked with the centre-back last summer.

Tasci has represented Germany 13 times since his debut in 2008 and was a part of last year’s World Cup squad. Stuttgart finished in a disappointing 12th place in last year’s Bundesliga and now it seems Tasci is keen to leave the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Spurs have also been linked with Bolton and England defender Gary Cahill but veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel remains the only new arrival this summer. However, new arrivals are expected after the disappointing end to last season’s Premier League.
