Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is set to stay at St Mary’s and reject Everton according to The Mirror, with the Dutchman eyeing up a move to a bigger club next summer.
The Toffees are desperately looking for a new head coach to lead the club forward next year following the disappointment of 2015-16 and subsequent sacking of Roberto Martinez.
Although a host of different names have been mentioned as possible options, Koeman is said to be the Merseyside outfit’s first choice after his stellar work on the south coast.
The former Feyenoord boss has steadied the ship since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from the St Mary’s Stadium and led the Saints to an impressive sixth placed finish this term.
However, despite Everton willing to offer Koeman a lot of money to spend should be move to Merseyside, the former Barcelona defender is set to reject the Toffees’ advances.
With Koeman out of contract at Southampton next summer, the Dutchman’s plan is seemingly to see out his deal with the Saints and look for a bigger fish in 12 months’ time.
