Sunderland have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Carl Jenkinson on a season-long loan, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 23-year-old spent the previous season at West Ham United, but despite their efforts to keep him at Upton Park, the right-back is likely to move elsewhere.
Southampton have also been keeping an eye on him as a potential replacement to Nathaniel Clyne, who is heavily linked with a move to either Liverpool or Manchester United.
Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat looks to have secured a deal for the defender with his club, who are said to be demanding a £1.5million loan fee.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is also looking to offer the England under-21 a new contract and despite his limited role at the Emirates, the Frenchman will be keen on his return following another loan spell in the Premier League.
He was considered a regular selection under former Hammers boss Sam Allardyce, featuring 36 times in all competitions last season.
