Sunderland boss looks to Chelsea for reinforcements

Sunderland want to bring Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma to join the club on a season long loan after he completes his spell with St Etienne, Daily Mail reports.

Jose Mourinho recently acquired two young defenders, one of them Zouma and the other Thomas Kalas, who already agreed to join Cologne on loan.

The Black Cats are confident that a deal can be put together as their sporting director, Lee Congerton, has a few contacts at Stamford Bridge who can help with the potential switch.

The Blues saw David Luiz join Paris Saint-Germain before the start of the World Cup and will now need to reinforce the squad with more defenders.

John Terry will continue his career where he is after signing a one year extension as Mourinho looks to younger talent to provide adequate back up.

In addition to their offer, Gustavo Poyet is also believed to want two other Chelsea youngsters, Andreas Christensen, 18, and Lewis Baker, 19.
