Sunderland boss set to go Dutch?

Today’s People reports that former Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy is on the verge of signing for Sunderland. Despite being 34 years of age, Bruce believes RVN’s experience will help his squad cope with the pressures of the Premier League, after seeing his side slip perilously close to a relegation dogfight in the second half of the season.

The Dutch striker is reportedly wanted by several clubs but the Black Cats are believed to be in pole position, as they look to replace the departed Darren Bent. Van Nistelrooy’s contract expires at Hamburg at the end of this season and is rumoured to want £60,000 a week wages, something which Stoke City cannot offer despite their interest.

The former Real Madrid striker already has 95 Premier League goals to his name in 150 appearances for Manchester United and has already declared his desire to return to England.
