Sunderland have completed a loan move for Inter Milan attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez, Daily Mail reports.
The Black Cats may be heavily linked with a move for Liverpool forward Fabio Borini, but they’ve signed Alavarez on a season-long loan worth £1million.
The Wear-side club also have the option to make the deal permanent for £8.5million, however Sunderland must avoid relegation in order to do so.
Alvarez was part of the Argentina squad that went all the way to the World Cup final, although the 26-year-old only featured once during the tournament.
This comes as great news for Sunderland supporters after seeing negotiations for Fabio Borini break down during the course of the transfer window.
Dubbed as the ‘Next Ricky Kaka’, Alvarez moved to Inter Milan from Velez Sarsfield back in the summer of 2011 for £10.9million.
Alvarez made 29 appearances for Inter last season, scoring four goals and supplying eight assists.
