Sunderland are considering a January move to sign Newcastle United target Charlie Austin from Queens Park Rangers, according to reports from the Express.
The 26-year-old impressed for his side in the Premier League last term, but was unable to help his team avoid relegation into the Championship.
Apart from the two mentioned clubs, Chelsea, West Ham United, and Crystal Palace are also believed to have been keeping an eye on the striker.
Despite being heavily linked with a switch in the summer, Austin decided to play out his contract with QPR before he will be allowed to leave on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
However, newly appointed Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce is believed to be open to making a move for his services during the winter window in order to help his team fight their way out of the relegation zone.
They are currently sitting 19th in the league while Newcastle are bottom as the two sides are likely to make a few changes to their squad when transfers are allowed once again.
