Sunderland will be searching for their first Premier League win of the season when they welcome Wigan to the Stadium of Light this Saturday.
Martin O’Neill has seen his side draw all four of their opening league matches, whilst Roberto Martinez has watched his Wigan side lose their last two league games, although they recorded an impressive 4-1 victory at Upton Park in the Captial One cup in midweek.
Sunderland boss O’Neill will make a late decision on winger Adam Johnson ahead of the fixture.
The 25-year-old was used as a substitute in the 2-0 Capital One Cup victory at MK Dons on Tuesday evening after recovering from a thigh problem, but did not train on Thursday and will be assessed again before kick-off, despite fresh scans showing no further damage.
Roberto Martinez is likely to include some of the fringe players who impressed so much in midweek.
Mauro Boselli will certainly be in contention after netting twice in midweek, while the likes of Ryo Miyaichi and Callum McManaman will also be hoping to feature in some part.
Antolin Alcaraz is not quite ready to return in defence, still suffering with a groin injury, while the game is expected to come too soon for striker Franco Di Santo, who is struggling with a calf injury.
Prediction: Sunderland 2-2 Wigan
