Manchester United’s top four dreams are a distant hope after their dodgy period over Christmas and New Year and a trip to Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland won’t exactly have many fans excited.
There has been an switch towards more free flowing football of late from Van Gaal and a return to form for Wayne Rooney has been long overdue. We can expect LvG to name Roon in the XI and probably see Anthony Martial cutting in from the left-wing.
Allardyce’s men are still in a brutal relegation battle and the cash splashing in January is yet to make a significant impact on the team. The grim details of Adam Johnson’s trial are looming over Sunderland Football Club at the moment and they will be hoping for an improved performance against United to place the focus back on the pitch.
These line-ups might be predictable for many of you, but the game could produce anything with the inconsistencies of United.
